The difference between men and women

Mrs EO was watching some weepy chick flic stuff last night and she told me this morning that she went through a whole box of tissues.
She is out at a patchwork quilting workshop today, so I have been watching some, er, 'gentlemens entertainment'
and I have gone through a whole box of tissues as well.

not in quite the same way I think

I thought the difference was that women cheat when being competitive while men don't?

Don't be daft, you didn't get through more than one of those travel packs.

I have referred your complaint to the earbudsman, he says 'get stuffed-better luck next year'

The difference is that women know all their troubles are your fault.

            Central Heating thermostat:

            1. You go away and leave the thermostat low, or the heating off. You come back home and it's, say 15C in the house, but you would like it to be 20C.
            Man sets thermostat to 20C.
Woman sets thermostat to 25C, to warm it up faster.

            2. Weather turns colder outside.
Man verifies that thermostat is set to 20C because that is what is wanted.
Woman sets thermostat a little higher, to compensate for cold weather, then sets it lower again when weather turns warmer.
Job motivation: how the powerful steal from the stupid.

Sadly, the lady is right, it does warm it up faster due to the boiler cycling on/off less making the thermal transfer from the hotter radiators more effective.
The thermostat isn't necessarily in the place where you need the heat...

Hydronic balancing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

basically place thermostats on each radiator.

then there is a race to the top.

Why does the boiler cycle less in that situation?

because in a house that is 15c, the air around the thermostat will heat up a lot faster than the mass of the house/contents (which acts like a huge resevoir).
the air at the thermostat reaches 20c
                    so the heating switches off
the resevoir sucks the heat out of the air
                    so the heating switches on

and that cycle will continue untill the resevoir get close to the setting on the thermostat. (20c)

by whacking the thermostat right up, the cycle length slows down, making the resevoir heat up more quickly.

A classic case of being right for the wrong reasons
