I was watching this yesterday and also remarked how similar it was to the Grand National. What were the organisers thinking of making them jump over fences whose landing was lower that the jump point, and forcing them do it, just a vile attempt to entertain the plebians. I quickly turned off, almost as soon as I saw them put the tent around the lad who'd broken his leg. Poor lad.

It's not been the same since Brendan Foster stopped saying "Douglas Wakahuri" in his Geordie accent. And I can't stand that music.

I used to enjoy the race itself, the elite runners, but nowadays it's often just another a bunch of Africans fighting it out, and the fancy dress procession behind them is boring.

The horses died because people killed them afer they were injured. Marathon runners who hurt themselves aren't dragged behind a water station and shot.
