It's International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia

    Apparently.

I was made mindful of this this morning whilst queueing for my coffee when the rather camp chap who runs the bar was openly talking about wearing stockings.

Serves my right for eavesdropping other peoples' conversations I suppose for had I had heard the dialogue in its entirety I would have learned that he was discussing preventative methods to avoid a deep vein thrombosis whilst travelling by air!

I'd better try not to offend any benders or queers today then.

But the picture is not all pink. There are still at least five countries which retain the death penalty for homosexuality, while almost half of Africa's 52 nations impose criminal punishment.
Yet another reason why immigration of the uneducated from third world and religiously conservative countries takes our society backwards. It beats me why so many who favour unrestricted immigration call themselves liberals when you look at the conservative attitudes so many bring in with them.

No, That's a cheap shot, and I now feel guilty

I like days that are FOR something, rather than AGAINST something

              it's so much more positive

Out of interest do those countries punish people for being gay, or specifically for engaging in gay relations?

Being gay is ok in those countries, so long as homosexual activity isn't engaged in. Funny how attitudes change. Sixty years ago, all "right thinking" individuals in the UK would have considered buggery to be rightly a criminal offence. Now all "right thinking" individuals consider it to be perfectly fine, if that's what floats your boat. I wonder what it will take to swing the pendulum back the other way? Morals are so transitory.

This is about trannys and gays, not S&M.

I'd've though the International Day Entirely Against Transphobia and Homophobia, iDeath, would be snappier.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!
