    Northern France - Accommodation Help and Advice

    Chaps

    Considering a short stay in Northern France over the extended bank holiday weekend coming up.

    Do any of you have recommendations for places to stay? I would be interested to hear in any areas to stay or specific hotels to stay in, though I am looking for something more traditional rather than a Campanile style hotel. Maybe somewhere with a bar or winery attached to the accommodation and preferably off the beaten track a little.

    The requirements are as follows;

    Night 1: Must be within 1 hour commute from Calias area, looking at maybe somewhere in Haute Normandie or Basse Normandie perhaps

    Night 2: Maybe somewhere in Epernay or Champagne region.

    Night 3: Must be within 1 hour commute of Calias, maybe Lille / Amiens area.

    Thanks for any advice on this...

    A few years back, we stayed in bed and breakfasts in northern France. Nip down to your local library (if such a thing still exists) and see if they have any books on them. If not, when I'm back this afternoon I can dig out some places if you are interested.

      Not off the beaten track, but we always have a weekend in Le Touquet at the end of any time in France. Some great restaurants, nice riding, horse and bike, great open beach to fook about on, and a nice nightlife.

        Dieppe is 2.5hrs ish from Calais, you may need to travel a little more to get a better area. What is your reason for being within an hour of Calais?

        However, we did Dieppe (ish) to Manchester in less than 8hrs last year, but i wasnt driving slowly...
        I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

            I'll be travelling from Manchester and want to get there in the day, so 9am start, 3pmish Chunnel and then I was thinking an hour from Calais would be good. Will be in a Range Rover diesel with the missus driving some of the way so we won't be getting there in any record times.

              Auchan in Coquelles is much cheaper than the town for diesel. At Easter it was about 5 cents a litre cheaper there than in the town.
