    Tap all to do....

3rd week into current project but client hasn't done anything at their end so not a lot for me to do at the moment.

What do you do in these situations? I know if I stick my head over the parapet I'll be making a huge rod for my back (because I'll get a load of Bob's SQL to fix) but I must admit to feeling a bit guilty as I'm not actually doing anything.

snap, 8 weeks in, not as easy as it should be to sit there and invoice is it?

Look for a better contract, look to make sure there's nothing you can do, post like wildfire on these forums.

you could give us a few good jokes in the joke thread.

Or you could make work up.

There's always documentation to create. If no-one's done it yet create the highest level document that you can in your specialism.

A Target Operating Model maybe. Or an IT Policy Governance document.

You can see the obvious advantages to this I'm sure . And who the hell will read them?

Something to put on your CV though...

You're not the only one. Starting third week here and no sign of any real work on the horizon. Since I'm required to use a "secure" laptop to do anything work related, and since they have yet to give me one there is not a lot I can do.

I'm not going to hold my breath, one guy has been working with his own kit for three months now!

            What Brilliant Advice!

Work is slack at my end while I'm waiting for files & docs to come in, so it will give me something tangible to put in the progress reports and on the work sheet

and anything has to be better than posting on cuk and tweeting all day

Where's the "Make stuff up" option?

You could get access to your clients training area and do CBT's all day.

In last week of current gig and have had sweet fanny adams to do for weeks.
I used to be proactive and go looking for things to do but now I really can't be arsed. This contract has been one of the worst I've ever had for boredom as I haven't been kept even remotely busy. So, I've given up touting for work and am just counting down the hours.
Shouldn't be much of a handover.
