Windows 8 Release Preview is out

    Ars Technica report

The Release Preview is the third in Microsoft's trio of Windows 8 pre-releases. The first was the Developer Preview, back in September of last year. Instead of following up with a more traditional "beta" release, Redmond branded the next version, launched in late February, the "Consumer Preview." This final version would more traditionally be known as a Release Candidate.

Look forward to hearing how they changed it from the previous beta - have no machine to run it on.

I gave up on the last preview. Got miffed off trying to work out how to do anything, especially as i dont work or care for those stupid tabs things... Give me a start menu and the search box / cmd line.

(but I'll go download and set up a parallels to test now... )
I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

Oh good, so hopefully lots of organisations will have to do rebuilds and retests of their applications. Just as long as Microsoft don't make it too compatible with other stuff, boomed!
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

This will be the product that get Ballmer ousted as CEO. To put a tablet touch UI onto a desktop OS a monumental **** up. Hopefully Apple and Ubuntu will grab a share of the consumer PC market and unimaginative box shifters like Dell will disappear into server cloud world.
