Actually what they seem to be saying is that you can charge the battery 500 times before it's knackered. Which is about right, depending on how you define knackered.

It does, but it's about 1.5x the size of the standard battery, so it will recharge the phone or keep it going for a bit longer than normal, but not 500x on a single charge.
