Trees in my garden, post burglary.

As you know I was burgled a couple of weeks back and part of the reason that no one saw anything was because of the trees/large shrubs that were between any potential witnesses and the access point.

Now these trees obviously provide privacy for us, but also cover for the bar-stewards who broke in.

Any ideas on whether I should cut the trees down totally, trim them back majorly, trim that back a bit or leave them as they are.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

Buy a CCTV camera and security light.

Check with your local council on whether the trees are protected or not.

But otherwise I would be inclined to keep them anyway (assuming you want to) - I don't think the thieves would have stopped if they were that determined to break in.

        WMFS

Also, consider buying a loving, family pet Doberman.

Alarm and CCTV are on there way already.

A doberman would be nice but not practical with our work schedules.

I heading towards a heavy pruning down to about 8 ft.

I also need to check what I am allowed to view with the CCTV system, would be nice to catch some fly tippers, irresponsible dog owners, etc.. on the road outside
Have heard though, that this is not allowed and there are shed loads of data protection/human rights she-ite to cover.

I believe you are allowed to film everything & your neighbours, all the way into the bedroom so I believe. Used to be a poster on here who was in to this sort of stuff. Don't know what happened to him though

Did they get in through the trees? If they did then consider planting something in with the trees that has thornes on them.

As for the dog, a few beware of the dog stickers on some windows would be useful. Is a virtual dog available anywhere? Something that reacts to sound and generates a randomised set of barks, random in terms of the bark sounds and duration but obviously recorded from the same dog? If not then there is a plan b for you - but I want a cut!

Doesn't have to be a real one, just a beware of the dog sign and a picture of a ferocious dog would suffice.
