    Tax Avoidance

    They're all weighing in now:

Cameron: Carr tax avoidance is morally wrong

Inevitably, rent a gob Lily Allen has been making her contribution stating that tax avoiders are worse than benefit cheats.

Really? At least they work for a living and what they're doing isn't illegal.

Carr tax is morally wrong. £250 quid for a year? sheesh! They should put it on fuel then the big users pay their fair share

Cameron's job is to make sure such things ain't just "morally wrong" but plainly illegal.

Someone earning a lot probably avoids more tax than a benefit cheat gets paid.

We should have a poll though - is it morally wrong or not to follow a clear loophole?

Most of that tulip isn't clear and has no economic sense other than to avoid tax - that should be classed as tax evasion.

I don't get it. Surely if you pay extra tax, the money goes on slaughtering Lybian/Syrian children?

            Isn't that morally wrong?

(leaving aside your legal duty to your shareholders, which non-tax-avoiders should be prosecuted for failing to perform)

Lily Allen is a cretin. I detest rich lefties who preach about socialist values, the worst ones are the ones that were rich from the day they were born. Worse than ex smokers battering on about passive smoking.

If anyone is at fault it is the HRMC who clearly are totally useless at their jobs. The UK tax system is a shambles.

Another thing, "He is taking the money from those tickets" Carr I would think pays VAT on his earnings from tickets. That is a good amount of tax he pays before he gets to fiddle the books.

Her views should change if she gets older and much richer.

                  They aren't all useless.

Though the ones who aren't have tend to have plans where they set up businesses to help the rich to avoid paying so much tax. .

It's unlikely he would pay VAT on the tickets personally but the company who sells the tickets for him would pay the VAT etc before giving him the profits.

I don't think ISAs should be tax free to begin with, but since they are explicitly so and it's a simple well understood transaction - save money and get tax free income, then it's fine. It's very limited as well to the point of being useless for large scale "tax avoidance" if you like.

Getting into tulip like pretending you don't get income and instead sham loans that never get called in is tax evasion in my book.
