Does it? yanks shot down a lot of migs in Vietnam.

This is your country's problem, you shoved them plenty of arms to do this killing, don't dare suggest this is a NATO issue.

Yes it does, check Article 5 of NATO deal:

NATO Topics - NATO and the Scourge of Terrorism

USA had a lot of F4 aircraft shot down by proxy Soviet forces in Vietnam, this time however a NATO aircraft was shot down so NATO as a whole is likely be required to respond IF Turkey requests so.

It's a NATO issue because Turkey joined it in 1952...

The IRA took down a few Britsh Army helicopters in their time.

You seriously want precision bombing of London by NATO to stop that happening?

Again, this is a problem with you lot.

Would you like to rethink that question

I suppose you could put Londonderry instead

IRA was not a country that could have been attacked by NATO forces.

Syria on the other hand is.

            It's WW3 started today...

What was Syria thinking of. What possible purpose could have been served by them shooting down the plane?

What on earth were the syrians thinking of shooting down a jet belonging to the country with the second largest standing army in NATO!

Their own ragtag armed forces are already struggling with control of their own country, Turkey would swat them like a fly.

Watch this space I think. Turkeys military are not renowned for restraint or half measures. It's not over yet.

                  WDS.

The Turks won't need anyone's help to settle this, they're not Greece after all...

Couldn't see any explanation about why the jet was in Syrian airspace.

If a foreign fighter jet is unexpectedly in your airspace, what is the appropriate response?
