    Duplicate webpages

Been looking at ways of increasing online sales. Notice one thing that can count against Google rating is similar web pages.

Similar Page Checker - Duplicate content checker

We have programs to identify land bugs and water bugs that use the same basic engine, so obviously are similar pages (97% similar according to the tool), are we supposed to rewrite one of them? That would be ridiculous, the fact that the programs do have similar operation/interface is a selling point for anyone who buys both, we don't want them to look like entirely unrelated programs.

This seems idiotic. Obviously any company with different but similar products, garden sheds, motorbikes etc will have similar pages. Anyone had to deal with this problem? Cheers.

Don't worry, that's not what Google are after. They're going for people who have hundreds of spammy URLs all with the same spammy content, e.g. florida-mortgages.html, florida-cheap-mortgaes.html, mortgages-in-florida.html, cheap-florida-property-loans.html - you get the idea.

WHS. Different URLs with the same content are the issue. So if you have xogbugs.com and xogbugs.co.uk, make sure that one 301 redirects to t'other. Or use <link rel=canonical href="xogbugs.com"/> in your <head> section.
Same issue if you same content with different URL parameters. (e.g. sort order)

For content that is different, make sure you change the title and meta data dynamically according to the bug you're looking at.
