Pay freeze for staff in IT fiasco

US technology company Computer Sciences Corporation, which is embroiled in the NHS IT fiasco, has frozen the pay of its UK staff who have avoided the company's recent bout of redundancies.
CSC has delayed the July pay review for its 9,000 UK staff until October. A spokesman said any pay rises will not be backdated.
In April, CSC said it was cutting up to 1,200 staff in the UK. It will reduce the workforce by 8pc worldwide. It also announced that the company was up for sale.
CSC has undertaken a $1.8bn contract with the NHS as part of the programme to provide patients with a lifelong electronic care record. This represents a significant portion of its forecast revenues of $15bn for the year to March.
The NHS scheme is running at least two-and-a- half years behind schedule and could end up almost £14bn over budget.
US technology group Accenture, which will provide the service in the North and the North East, is allowing for losses of £260m on its £2.1bn contract. Software supplier iSoft has seen its shares fell 76pc since the beginning of this year after two profit warnings.
