Syria and Western double standards/Hypocracy

I don't know if anybody else has been following this but watching the news has made me realise how bad the BBC, Times, Daily Mail etc all are.

Consider the following:

- Violent protests in Syria involving guns, bombs, vicious methods of killing
Western media/govts : We must support the Syrian uprising
- Peaceful protests in Bahrain, Bahraini innocent protesters killed in cold blood
Western media/govts: The people must work together with the legitimate Bahraini Government

- Suicide Bombings against Western targets, Israelis or non Muslims
Western media/govts: Disgusting acts of terrorism have been perpetrated
- Suicide Bombings against Syrian targets
Western media/govts: A suicide bombing has taken place which could now destabilise this illegitimate government (this is a good thing)

Violent Uprisings in Syria
Western media/govts: We must arm and support these (vicious <censored>, taliban like) civilians

Peaceful demonstrations in Bahrain/Saudi
Western media/govts: We will meet with the officials to discuss the situation

anybody see a trend here?

Syria contains the most extreme, salafi, big dirty bearded, vicious, barbarian people and yet the West is supporting them (let's just hope the plan to give them power fails). On the other hand we have peaceful demonstrations elsewhere against equally bad dictators and the West supports those dictators.

Does nobody else see the parallels here between Syria and the support USA gave bin Laden originally? Why is nobody seeing what is happening here? This attempted regime change spells trouble for us all, those <censored> barbaric thugs who are currently staging an "uprising" will cause chaos throughout the region.

Let's start by raising awareness.

The problem is that most people don't care, so, no matter how good the points you make are - and they are good points - I don't think ordinary folks such as you can make a blind bit of difference.

You have to be able to do something yourself. Attempting to engineer a mass movement will most likely fail. There was that mountaineer guy who build schools in N.E. Pakistan. That kind of effort is more likely to make a difference than attempting to raise the awareness of a people who couldn't give a toss.

Your post is spot on, but its the road to depression if you think that people are simply not "aware".

In the best case, the majority don't care , and don't want to know the facts.

In the worst case, people are happy about this kind of thing because it allows them to consume more.
