Lance Armstrong - Hero or Zero?

The only sport I used to follow was cycling before the drug scandals from Le Tour.

    Now this - Linky

Cyclist Lance Armstrong will be stripped of his record seven Tour de France titles and banned from the sport for life, the US Anti-Doping Agency said tonight.

Armstrong’s attorneys sent a letter to USADA today saying he won’t fight drug allegations by the agency that the cyclist called part of an “unconstitutional witch hunt.”

So, what do you all think?

    Who knows? A real shame.

Given the records of some of the runners up one wonders what they plan to do with the titles should they take them away from him.

There has never been any direct evidence against him. Whether this is because he was clean or just knew how to game the drug tests is hard to say. There have been plenty of rumours and guilt by association with a few dodgy characters.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

How can the merkins take away Tour De France titles? The US anti-doping agency has no jurisdiction.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

A real shame. They are going to have to remake dodgeball.

He's certainly guilty of bad judgement. Not sure about everything else tbh.

Well that's a good question. OTOH the Frenchies never liked him and would probably be happy to see him go down.

Personally I have some sympathy for him, it does seem like something of a witch hunt with zero evidence other than the testimony of a couple of disgraced ex teammates and proven bulltulipters.

                Agreed.

                But why stop fighting?

My thoughts exactly. I would suspect there's more evidence to come.

Reminds me of Iraq and WMD.
