cigarette ban for anyone born after 2000

Tasmania considers cigarette ban for anyone born after 2000 - Telegraph

Something I have been thinking about for a while - I really hope this is adopted internationally.

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Erm are we talking about smokers tolerating non-smokers or non-smokers tolerating smokers?

        Just asking, like...

It's quite simply. Selling cigarettes will br illegal however it's legal to sell to existing addicts.

              Today: cigarettes.
              Tomorrow: alcohol and KFC.

Still, no amount of banning will stop those determined to make their own choices. I think a quick look back in time will show that.

Im torn on this one. Firstly we are overpopulated, so giving people the freedom to end their life quicker must be a good thing. On the other hand its a disgusting dirty habit so a total ban would seem worthwhile.

How about banning smoking but starting state run suicide booths?

Where's the freedom of choice in the UK to buy any medicine or class A/B drug?

Why should a known carcinogenic be any different, especially when proven to a passive affect?

I personally think that ciggies should be by prescription only and only sold in chemists. Yes this will drive an illegal black market but it will also prevent a huge number from taking it up.

Ban advertising, remove the brands and prescribe a very few number of varients. Set-up mandatory addiction programmes anyone new asking for ciggies on prescription and limit further the places where smoking can occur, not within 1 mile of a school, .25 miles of a public building e.g hospital, library etc.
