    Sponsors who won't pay up

Firstly many thanks to all 26 of you who sponsored me! I was deeply touched - I now have raised well over £3000 - still a bit to go as I am collecting at Church on Sunday and again on the 7th Oct. A particular thanks to Russell!

The head of IT pledged £30 - since then there has been an exchanged of 6 emails and I have mentioned it a couple of times when I have seen him - but he has not paid up. He is talking about a charity cheque - which my priest tells me is a CAF cheque.

I often get annoyed when people say they will do stuff and then don't - so being messed about for charity really annoys me. I don't really want to let him off the hook. Last email was a week ago and he is rarely at his desk.

I can't decide if to approach him directly. Email again. Forget about it. Put the word around that he is not to be trusted.

    Any comments or advice?

    Cheers

That's the big plus about JustGiving, any other 'promise' is just a lot of ego-preening hot air with no guarantee that they'll cough up.

If he hasn't given you the money to you now he never will. Just chalk it up and get your own back if he ever he asks you for charity money.

(I only donate via JustGiving these days, sponsoring per mile/lap/ mars bar is so 1970's....)

Indian debt collector calls in the eunuchs

A cure for the spectre of bad debt currently stalking the IT industry may lie in the back streets of Bombay. In this Indian city, a debt-collecting firm has taken to employing eunuchs to embarrass those slow at paying up. The six eunuchs currently employed threaten to remove their saris, bringing shame on offenders, their businesses and their families. For those sceptics out there, bear in mind that this scheme has generated £8,500 in just a few weeks ..

I'm sure we'd all club together to the tune of £30 to see that.

Has anyone got any proof that BP actually did the race? Has it been interdependently verified

LOL nope not on this one. I am a strong believer charity is given freely and by choice. I can't stand people that have a go at me cause I won't give to a charity adopting Somalian stray dogs. It's just not my thing and I chose to sponsor something else.

If he doesn't want to pay it's up to him. I don't think pressure should be applied. Lets be fair he is a utter for promising and not paying up and I would be very disappointed in him to say the least. Going back on promises to charity is just the lowest of the low but it's his choice.... the twunt.

Justgiving is the way to go for me. I can even tell the person doing it to read the guides or do a search in the comments field as well. Bargain.
