Average MS permie developer salaries outside London

I know this is a bit "how long is a piece of string" question, but what would the panel say are the average salary ranges for a Microsoft stack developer with 7-8 years experience outside London? I am aware of ITjobswatch and so on but the taxonomy on those sites is so poor as to make the figures meaningless IMHO. Do specialist technologies like SharePoint increase the average salary in the MS domain? What about team leads - can they expect to earn much more?

Depends drastically on where you are. I am in Hampshire, when I was a permie last (just over a year ago) I was on 55k + benefits. I had about 12 years experience in ms c++.

Team leading can pay more but not necessarily, there are also fewer team leads than team members.

Having a specialist skill might get you more money but usually not IMHO. Normally a company wants, say, a share point expert so they just won't hire you unless you have the expertise.

If you are an expert in c++ and share point and they have vacancies for both at the same time, in the same place in a way that allows the roles to be combined then you can probably get some extra money. You can guess how often that happens.
