    Guide book for freelancers

Spotted an interesting new book here. Actually went to uni with this bloke so it's a bit of a shameless plug for him. It is good though and very relevant to contractors :

You can get the information for free from this site and a few others.

Yes, but that's not tax deductible.

But then your client isn't paying for it.

I've a contractor colleague who thinks like that. he spends loads though his company, staying in posh hotels and so on. his claim is that otherwise hmrc would have it off him. i did try and point it that hmrc would only have 20-30% of it off him, so the rest of it was inefficient spending and budget control.
          Signed sealed and delivered.

+1 - never buy it unless you have to.

The book probably doesn't go off at tangents and arguments or have awkward sods telling you you should be able to work it out for yourself

You can get everything about Java online too, or any academic study, but that doesn't make books and courses worthless.

This site (under CUK navigation), the PCG site and a few accountants sites have guides so you don't have to communicate with awkward sods.

The PCG and SJD Accountancy guides are PDFs. You can download PDFs and read them on kindles and most smartphones.
