    Old-fashioned manners or weird foible?

I’ve noticed that I seem to be the only person I know who considers it a bit ignorant to cross paths on stairs. My parents drilled into me to let someone else walk up/down stairs if they were already there and expected the same courtesy of others.

But these days people think I’m a bit strange stopping to let others past, and I do think it rude if they carry on regardless while I’m on the stairs.
I’ve tried to shake off this idea and walk up and down without worrying about others but I can’t, so I just have to accept this anomaly and continue to be seen as a bit ‘weird’

Stopping to let others past on the stairs may be old fashioned but it is still correct. Especially if they are really fat. Or fit.
    Keeping calm. Keeping invoicing.

our family stop to let people up/down the stairs all the time

The only time we have to change this is when we are out shopping and the staircase is quite big

          Stairs ??????????

Avoid potential stair etiquette difficulties by using the lift

Manners maketh man (and attractive women smile).

if they don't smile they are saddo's, its polite unless the stairway is designed for a number of people to move abreast.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

And there's the bonus of looking at a very fine looking lady's pert arse as they go by too

There is a recollection of one of those old sayings along the lines of "don't cross paths on stairs" something to do with years gone by when men used to carry swords. If you crossed each other on the stairs then the other guy could stab you in the back
