    To the recovering alcoholic

When you meet a sober alcoholic,
    You meet a hero.

    His mortal enemy slumbers within him;
He can never outrun his disability.

He makes his way through a world of alcohol abuse,
In an environment that does not understand him.

Society, puffed up with shameful ignorance,
    Looks on him with contempt,
As if he were a second-class citizen,
Because he dares to swim against,
the stream of alcohol. But you must know:
No better people are made than this.

Hero? I can think of many people to whom I'd happily apply that word, but never an ex-pisshead.

How about recovering coke heads, pill heads, smokers, tokers, speed freaks and congenital masturbators?
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

You can be a hero as well if you want.

I watched two friends die from alcoholism after a tough battle. Addiction of any kind is nothing to make light about.

I've never conned anyone, let alone my own john thomas

Thanks for the feedback. This draft does need some 'tweaking'. I'll publish the final version shortly.

                  Oh, didn't realise it was a W.I.P.

Handy tip: complete it when sober.

EDIT: OK, you've brought out the Vogon poet in me. Here's my edit:

When you confront a sober alcoholic,
                  You confront a fighter.

                  With a mortal enemy still slumbering within;
An enemy, whom cannot be defeated.

Traveling, within a world of alcoholic abuse,
                  Misunderstand weighing upon every step.

Society, still scorning in shameful ignorance,
                  Looking down, in unconcealed contempt.

                  A forgotton citizen,
                  Pushing through the crowds,
                  Alert amongst the alcoholic seas.

                  But know this, my friend:
Few are more alive than he!

                    How about:

There was a young man from Aberystwyth,
Who took out a girl to play whist with,
When she trumped his last trick,
                    He whipped out his d**k,
And played hell with the hole that she pissed with !!
When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....
