Jacking it all in and doing something else

As Sas has retired and Xog is writing short stories when do you feel your warchest would be big enough to go off and do something else or retire early. Can't see myself working in IT or software organisations until I retire, I'd like to get out in the next two years or so.

    Become an internet millionaire.

It was "Become an internet millionaire and retire in my twenties" but that ship has sailed!

Wait for Mr C to jack it in first. 2 or 3 more years I guess.

The 1st thing we want to do is spend a season in a nice ski resort while we can still enjoy it.

Same as this, but it was 'thirties' for me.

Unfortunately, that ship and a pile of other subsequent ships, have already sailed.

Day trader, I've had a dabble this year got my own strategy and making an income per month I could live on OR run a cafe. A cafe locally to me has come on the market as owner retiring, the accounts showing a net profit of approx £90k a year easily could increase that if it target the commuters better. Its open 7 days a next week right next to a super market that has not cafe itself or space to open one, lots of foot fall.

I really don't like IT, if I ended up doing this for the rest of my life and the commuting I do I would of wasted my life.

plan c (a crappy website I did in a weekend to solve a very small problem clientco had) already generates 50% of my contracting income and that's without any marketing spend.

At the end of this contract i'll use that as the basis to take 6 months off and work out what I want to do. It'll be internet related because it seems you can still make significant money from solving small problems well.

                  Already living the dream.

Work 6-8 months of the year, spend the rest of the time on the beach (winter sun)

                  That's the plan.
