      Best to start off with something cheap to learn how to change tyres, strip threads, break spokes, and are happy to have stolen or throw away.

      Bicycles are absolutely the only game where if you ask "do you have something more expensive" the answer is invariably yes and it's generally better.
      Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

        A Bike needs to do what you want it to do.

        If you are riding on cycle paths / raods then you don't want nobbly tyres, granny wheel gearing, and F/F suspension.

        If you are riding off road then you may want some of that stuf, but, best to learn on a bike that you are happy to break.
        Your parents ruin the first half of your life and your kids ruin the second half
