    WTF £22.50 for a puncture!!!

Dropped wheel off at local Kwik Fit - small nail in tyre and slow leak

Picked it up and bill for £22.50 presented instead of the expected tenner

    Valve £4.75
    Nitrogen Inflation £1.50
    Wheel balance £6.75

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

    Nitrogen inflation

    Isn't air 79% nitrogen anyway.

Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

Yes, but most consumers don't know that. I bet you could do a discounted 'up to 80% nitrogen filling!' and make a tulipload.

Good enough for F1, every fraction of a second saved is billing time.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Where are you getting £22.50 from? Even if you add VAT onto that breakdown it doesn't come to that.

Well it didnt need a new valve, only new tyres need them or if the valve was damaged and it probably didnt need balancing.

But I bet if you challenged them, they have to do it for health and safety reasons.

Not sure, but I'm assuming the cost of the puncture repair should be added

It probably did need balancing after a puncture (even if the tyre didn't actually hit anything, driving on a flat can knock the wheel out of alignment). But the valve should only have cost about 75p.

Technically, it does need balancing basically because the tyre has been off the wheel, and the mismatches in weight and density will be in different relative positions from where they were previously, leading to vibration and instability at certain speeds
