Interesting problem reared it's ugly head today.
I am working from home, developing big sw for big clients.
I often have to vpn into the office and to the clients, and often use rpc to get onto remote machines.
not being an infrastructure guy, I get the support guy to talk me through making the connections, which is once per client. and we have six so far.
so its not a major burden, maybe a 20 minute job, to set up the icons.
Today, for client 7 he wants to install sw on my machine so he can remote in to me, to save himself 10 minutes, because he can set it up twice as fast as I can.
I told him to eat a big fat one. so hes whinged to the md and made it a big issue.
the last time i was talking to the fellow, he told me to disable my pc tools firewall, to get something else to work
so, am I right in telling him to do one ? or should i trust the 'expert'
