    xmas break

Any suggestions for places to go over xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day.

Ideally I'd like to veg at home and not see the inside of an airport, but Mr N is insistent we go away for a few days.

Any good places in euroland that do christmassy stuff?

Like beer? Like mussels? Want a Christmassy feel, with markets and such-like?

      Try Bruges.

Vienna can be nice at Christmas too.

And, whatever you do, don't climb the tower if you're a bit on the "heavy" side.

                Edinburgh?

As nice as any euro city mentioned (as long as you don't go down Leith walk too far)

In a break from our usual christmas in Africa trips, I'm off to Cairns to lie in the sun, drink wine and eat barramundi, lobsters, kangaroo and whatever other delicious animals the Aussies can chuck on a barbecue. Enjoy the northern European weather.

Agreed; great place. One of Europe's best.

Aside from that, Istanbul's brilliant for xmas and new year.
