    Abandoned Conference Call

The chap who sits at the next desk to me was on a conference call. Now he's put the call on speakerphone, put his coat on, and gone off for lunch

The volume's very low - I can't even make out what they're saying, just that there are three different voices chuntering away.

He's the one that signs my timesheets, so I'd best not complain

    Is the phone on mute?

I have been on a few calls like that - clear off for 30 minutes and when you return they are still wittering on. Of course if you put the phone down it bleeps so everyone knows someone has left.

Not sure; I was thinking of going and eating my crisps very close to it, just to freak them out.

He's back now, and back on the handset. He might have just gone for a ciggy rather than lunch. We shall probably never know.

Hopefully they didn't ask him anything

Must be one of those calls made by a senior bod preaching to the masses of his minnions with a 5 minute Q&A at the end.
