                  If you think China could step in and put a stop to this North Korea nonsense, any time it wanted to, then maybe you should consider boycotting anything Chinese.

                  Would be fairly futile though, and easier said than done these days. Also, it may be the Chinese would be only too keen to occupy North Korea or change its leadership, but they consider the military or political risk too high for whatever reason.

                  I suspect the real reason is that a flourishing North Korea, combined with South Korea, would simply be more unwelcome competition for the Chinese and would increase pressure for a final independence settlement (if they still have a claim on Korea being part of China?)

                    To be fair, China is starting to criticise DPRK, and is supporting the latest sanctions, much to DPRK's chagrin.
