    Cat amongst the pigeons.

ADL Slams Sunday Times Blood Libel Cartoon Published on Holocaust Memorial Day, Calls for Immediate Apology | Jewish & Israel News Algemeiner.com

Well, is it anti-Semitic or is it just Gerald Scarfe doing his normal thing.

Rupert has already apologised just in case.

The Scarfe cartoon is one of the very few good things in the Sunday Times these days; that and Rod Liddle.

Clarkson's lost his mojo and Winner's Dinners is sadly no more.

No, there should be no apology.

The government of Israel loves to perpetuate the idea that criticism of its actions is anti-Semitic. It isn't, of course, any more than criticism of India's government is racist, or criticism of Germany's government is sexist.

In fact, the Israeli government dishonours the memory of those who died in the Holocaust by using those deaths as a kind of get-out-of-jail-free card whenever anybody points out how barbaric are its actions.

Exactly what I was thinking, minus the swearing.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Unfortunately you cannot criticise the Israelis without being classed as anti-semetic. There was nothing even remotely anti-semetic about that cartoon, Murdoch was probably scared of p*ssing of the US and there are a lot of very wealthy Jews with interests in his various ventures who would despise of him allowing the criticism of the Holocaust the Israelis are executing in the West Bank.

All of you are missing the point.
The cartoon seems to be perpetuating the old Jewish blood libel myth and as such may be seen as anti-semitic.
One can only surmise if this was Scarfe's intention, but it does seem a little close to the bone.
              Hard Brexit now!

You are missing the point. The Israeli government rushes to assert that the cartoon perpetuates the blood libel, as that allows them to claim prejudice and look put-upon, and thus avoid having to actually face up to criticism. But their assertion is without foundation.

I'm neither Jewish nor an apologist for the Israeli government's actions, but that cartoon seems to me to be perpetuating old myths and wouldn't really look out of place in a Nazi propaganda pamphlet.
There would have been better ways to make the point.
