    Lakeside cabin holiday ideas

So the thought is to find:

required: somewhere that is a cabin on a lake, ideally where is possible to throw a rod in and do a bit of fishing, gf chef likes the idea of trying, but mainly for a romantic weekend away. Rural, peaceful, scenic.

Time/ length: this summer time for 4 or 5 days.

Location: Northern Europe, Scandinavia, possibly Eastern Europe

    Any ideas of possibilities?

I actually found somewhere exactly like that when researching our winter holiday in Lapland. Come the summer, the lake which the house sits on the shore of melts.

Is that too far afield or would you like me to try and find it again?

What about that tropical paradise which is the Scottish Highlands ?

Check out Loch Lochy and Loch Oich cabins.

(PS - Summer is usually on the 2nd Sunday in June)

This was the one I remember but there are loads - if you look under "speciality accommodation" on TripAdvisor.

+1 did some fly fishing with my dad (apparently women and children are fast learners at this) a few years in Loch Oich (or one of the rivers near by) was fantastic, so quiet and chilled. Stopped at Invergloy Guest House but there was a cottage for hire tacked on to it. Would love to go back.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

It's only a tropical paradise if you're a midge, plenty to feed on

You're safer heading to Skye, plus it's nicer

Some good fly fishing in the west of Ireland, especially around Mayo and Galway.

You would go to Skye to AVOID midges ??

                    You're mental you are !!

If you get a still, wind free evening on Skye (yes, I know) the midges would be spitting out the soles of your trainers within an hour. There would be no remains for your loved ones to bury !!
