    Jobs of the day

Sadly not for CUK due to the word 'intelligence' in the title
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Interesting that Mandarin speakers get £5K more than Russian speakers.

It's still better paid than most entry-level/graduate jobs - particularly in the field of translation.

I looked into the linguist roles at MI5 when they were hiring forensic phoneticians a few months ago. Only marginally better paid than these jobs, and a much more specialist skill than just the knowledge of a foreign language.

Was almost glad I didn't qualify on grounds of nationality.

Friend of mine did Russian at uni.

All the others doing Russian ended up working for the security services.

My friend couldnt join as his parents were not Brits and he couldnt pass security clearances.

He should join a bank instead, they are less fussy.
