View Full Version : Wanted: tool to convert old style TIFF to

threaded

Anyone know a tool that can convert the old style TIFF with jpeg compression to something else?

Or will I have to write one?

Actually I’ve already written one, but if you’re too stupid to find it with Google……..

You'll have to write one, but to make it a challenge for you threaded, you can only use the letter k,m,l,s and e and the binary values 1001010111010101 and 0010011101000101.

Okay?

Bloody hell threaded, are you a man or a mouse?

Write your own - it'll only take 5 mins.

I just wrote a tool to convert avi to mpg on my PDA whilst having a sh*te in trap 3 just now !!

Tut, tut...

Not sure I understand the question. Old style TIFF? Doesn't any old paint prog open that? Paint Shop Pro has got a batch file convertor too.

Spot on xoggoth.

TIF has never had jpeg style compression either - it (optionally) uses a number of lossless compression methods the most commonly used being LZW.

Clearly you didn’t understand the question. It wasn’t a request for help, it was intended to make Threaded look clever. That’s all.He will be back soon to prove it.

HTH.

Threaded. Have you been telling us porkies? :rolleyes

How about...

using System;
class Hello {
static void Main() {
Console.WriteLine ("Hello World");
}
}

Hey i'd recognise that VB anywhere. Doesn't it compress TIFFs into GIFs?

I think you'll find that's the Pope's job!

Bears are the catholics.

:lol

I'm afraid not - as proof I offer up in defence the fact that I am not colourblind.

fiddly: What is the proper name for TIFF compression type 6 then?

plank.

Nice to see you've adopted an appropriate sig there Jules.

fiddle -

Have you never heard of plank compression? It's based on planck's constant I believe.

Fiddly: Caught you out bullshitting again and as usual you just go for insults.

Suppose the plane tit is correct, but there again doesn't take much for anyone to appear clever next to you.

Actually threaded is right and I was wrong - I'd never come across lossy compression methods for TIFF - rather defeats the purpose of using it IMO

It also serves threaded right for keeping his porn stashed away in obscure image formats so his mum couldn't find them.

Found one, a very old copy of IrfanView, but it won't do bulk conversions... :-(

you'll just have to go through it wank at a time then

planetit

I could say I told you so.

I might know nufink about TIFF, but I know a Threaded show off post when I see one.

threaded
21st June 2005, 15:03
plane tit: You really are a ball of pent up frustrations. If I want to do a show off post, I title it something along the lines of "Just showing off (again)".

HTH

So did you try PSP? That does do batch. If you ain't got it, post a link and I'll check it.

fiddleabout

It doesn't seem to support type 6 compression though (at least the version 7 I keep on my flash drive doesn't mention it)

Have you looked at ImageMagick (http://www.cs.williams.edu/~lenhart/doc/ImageMagick/ImageMagick.html) ?

threaded

OwlHoot: ImageMagick was actually the first thing I tried when the client said they had tried everything... (No, it don't work, but the error message reconned it might if you link in some other library, but it didn't.)
