    BOOMED!

Been on the bench for 2 months, out of choice, as we've just had our 2nd child and moved house at xmas so I've really enjoyed having time off as I've not really taken > 1 week off in 5 years!!

Then earlier this month I was offered a gig with a previous client direct but the role wasn't really what I wanted (server farm migration) but the people were nice, it was close to home and rate was decent, so I grudgingly accepted but then their legal dept weren't overly keen on altering their antiquated contract which failed QDOS contract review so it gave me the get out clause I wanted and declined it.

Then the next day I was contacted by a consultancy based down south that were working with a client up North and wanted a project lead, had a phone chat and face to face meet last week, then went up to meet the CIO of clientco who I'll be reporting to and jobs a goodun! start next week Good rate, potential for long term extension and also other work with the consultancy for their other clients (banks, insurance, financial services etc) happy days!

I'll be leading a team of 6 to implement a new corporate data strategy which has/is being devised by the consultancy. A bit of a step up from previous gigs which have been purely technical so its a bit daunting as to man managing (especially stroppy know it all techies) but should be good.

    Wish me luck!
