    Migration

"The number of East Europeans coming to work in Britain since 2004 may be 50% higher than previously thought, a BBC Two Newsnight survey suggests.
The survey of 500 Poles in the UK found 64% had signed the workers' register.

Official figures show 375,000 workers have registered since the EU expanded in May 2004 but the survey suggests 187,000 more may have come to the UK. "

So if 500k extra people suddenly arrive en masse in the UK - do they all have instant access to NHS treatment?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Are you suggesting that the UK immigration department has completely lost control? How did that happen?

        He he...from CUK front page...

Eastern Europeans are fleecing UK tax credits by bogusly claiming child allowance so they can buy homes in their homeland, Whitehall was told this week.

As many as 500 low-paid workers from Slovakia, Latvia and Lithuania have come to Britain falsely claiming they live with their children, to qualify for handouts up to £5,000 each.

Once the account is set up, the funds are typically used to buy small properties in Eastern Europe – regardless of whether the claimant has children, or has since left the UK.

Such abuse of tax credits is on an “industrial scale,” according to Richard Bacon MP, who was handed a dossier exposing the scam by insiders at HM Revenue & Customs.

Inside, are details of what he claims could be “one of the greatest financial scandals ever seen in the UK.”

Only need 3 years worth of child allowance to get a really nice dacha in the Latvian or Lithuanian forests.
Home on the Baltic Coast, just a touch more, around 4/5 years child allowance.

When these people, desperate for work, come to the UK, isn't it fair that they should be able to send something back to their equally hard working families?

On the other side, there are hard working honest workers who get double taxation. If they send a few hundred pounds back to their families at the end of the month they pay 40% local tax as well as the UK tax.

                  thank feck

Thank feck for the Poles I say. Service in my locals boozers here in London is much better since the lazy, scruffy, in-bred ozzie backpackers were traded in for the ample chested, blonde polski totty that is now in abundant suply at minimum wage.

Open the gates and let them come.

A lot actually. The government are going to up taxes to pay for the bogus claimants.
