Given up alcohol this year ...

... like I quit cigs 5 years ago.
Doesn't feel strange at all, like I thought it would.
Quite like the freedom of driving everywhere, restaurants, dinner parties and the like.
The only dull bit is when people get drunk - then you find out what bores they really are.
    Hard Brexit now!

I may be drunk, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly <hic>
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

          You get worse when drunk

Hm, I've never been properly into drinking (aside from the odd binge at university...), so 'giving up' for pregnancy was kind of a non-issue. I mean, at most I had a glass of cider a fortnight - or an individual Jaeger-Bull (I guess not liking wine or beer sorta makes this easy, too), but even that wasn't a regular occurrence.

I don't like to completely ban myself from doing anything though, so I'm sure I'll go back to the odd drink once no longer pregnant. When I met my other half he was teetotal (for seemingly no reason). He's back to the occasional beer now (though also no more than once a fortnight or so). I somehow prefer that.

I do agree though - I like generally being able to drive everywhere without having to work out how I'll get back home.

Gave up for a year a few years ago after my 1st daughter arrived. Was commuting a fair distance and the train journey home was turning into an alcoholics delight. Beer, cider and sometimes wine plus lashings of dry roasted peanuts. It was getting a bit out of hand (plus there was a pub in the station at my home town - adding to the chaos). The coffee shop in the station also had a display which had cold bottles of Becks and one morning I found myself thinking "maybe one for the trip to work..." - that's when I thought that maybe a break was a good plan!

After a year off I can now pretty much take or leave it.

I do have a crippling addiction to cocaine, smack and barbiturates however so its swings and roundabouts...

I have found that if I'm craving a cold beer Bavaria 0.0% works just as well for refreshment purposes.
