    Suspicicous help

A fortnight ago I applied for a short contract, the purpose of which was to fix a Linux memory problem the customer was having. The client asked for a short "write up" to confirm my experience in the area. So I penned a couple of paragraphs and sent it to the agent, who was highly approving. I was careful not to give any specific solutions, mind you, just to show my knowledge and make a couple of very general, broad pointers.

Today I heard the client permies had "dug out the manual" and fixed it themselves.

So did my "write up" help them to a solution ? Perhaps you, gentle reader, applied for the same gig and gave similar advice ?

it does happen. it happened to me once.
went for an interview in an estate agency IT dept in London. fixed a major problem as part of my technical test then the it manager asked me what my 'real rate' was

I just said goodbye walked out. The free ham and salad roll was nice though.

just suck it up, smile and move on
