    Plan B idea

How about a website that you can put the phone numbers of nuisance callers and texters in and automatically submit a data protection act request?

Maybe if we bombarded them with zillions of them they would **** off.

It would be interesting to know where they get your number from as well.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

In your case, is the answer the bogs in Waterloo station?

I thought they got computers to generate all possible phone numbers and call them? That being why giving nobody your number doesn't avoid the nuisance calls.

Maybe if we bombarded them with zillions of data protection act requests they would ignore them. Maybe they are not within the jurisdiction of our laws.

data protection act is routinely broken every day (passing personal info outside of EC for example) by the big multi nationals and the information commissioner never does anything about it, so the chances of him actually enforcing some laws on real hard core criminals is non existant. many of these calls are coming in from india and elsewhere outside the EC and there is little chance of enforcing laws. its all a bit of a shambles.

+1. the only way to actually solve the issue is to proceed down the line until you find the name of the law firm who is paying for the leads and then shop them to the commissioner.

"If you only hold telephone numbers and don’t know the name of the person who can be reached on that telephone number, the Data Protection Act does not apply." - Which Law - these Regulations or Data Protection?

What you need is an app that has artificial intelligence, and engages the nuisance callers in conversation.

That way they run up huge phone bills, and ties up their callers for ages, without tying up your phone.
              Keeps them from nuisancing others.

I don't think you'd get a signal in the bogs at Waterloo station. Like Victoria, Charing Cross, Paddington, and Kings Cross they're underground.

The trouble is that it doesn't make them run up huge phone bills nowadays.

VOIP and cut rate blocks of call time make the telco costs of these campaigns relatively cheap.
