Best place to put your warchest?

I've never had one before now as I've been paying down debts, now I've started to amass some cash I'm looking for the best place to put it?

It's currently sat in a NatWest ISA earning bugger all and today I get a letter saying they are cutting the piss poor rate even further.

Any ideas for best return and easy/fast access?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Nowhere to put anything at the moment. Zopa is a good 5.4% and I've just put an extra £5k in there.

Coventry BS has a 60 day notice ISA at 2.8% which you can apply online and The Santander 123 account may be worth swapping into. They're paying 3% on the current account for anything upto £20k.

      It's not good out there.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

My Asia-Pacific stocks and shares ISA managed 14% in the last year. In fact it's gone up 50% in the 5 years since I started it, despite a global financial meltdown along the way.

Unfortunately I only ever put £4K into it. Doh!

Buying shares in safe manufacturing companies was an idea that occurred to me as I was listening to the Money Programme bit on Cyprus earlier today.

That or setting up a safe sales and installation company.

no easy access, but I am getting 4.2% on 40k locked in a three year ISA with RBS

three years is instant enough for my situation
