Double boom and double swing and miss

Got an email through linked-in from a recruiter in a company asking whether I would be interested in working permamently there ... we chatted back and forth and he mentioned that the salary is 45k. I sent him the calculations as to why this would not be enough and explained that when I was a perm a few years ago I was on quite a bit more than this. I have not had a reply.

Got a phone call today about a place in the centre of London for a perm job. They asked how much I wanted and I told them, complete with a breakdown of the commute costs etc. I have not had a reply.

I have heard that contractor rates are dropping like stones. It would seem that perm ones are too

Actually that is a good point - my kids kept me up half the night and my brain simply is not switching on today. Luckily I am just fighting automated build servers in TFS so brain work is not really required.
