Just saw this on ebay

Land Rover Defender 170 Genuine 6x6 Camper Expedition Overland | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defender-170-Genuine-6x6-Camper-Expedition-Overland/330898055506?_trksid=p2045573.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D555003%26algo%3DPW.CAT%26ao%3D1%26 asc%3D33%26meid%3D7055828863870946642%26pid%3D1000 34%26prg%3D1031%26rk%3D1%26)

Although personally the sleeping accommodation is the winner

For that kind of money you could get a Land Rover and one of these (http://www.equi-trek.com/uk/horse-trailers/trek-away/info)(about £10k with all the extras) and still have change.

Paint it pink then.

That would pass some time I guess ... any ideas on what to do about my van?

Darn - I'd have considered buying that a couple of weeks ago. Even started a thread here asking about Land Rovers.

But I'm driving up to Manchester tomorrow to collect my new (used) 2007 3 litre Jag. :smokin

the question has to be, why ?

why 6x6 ?

why a 6x6 landrover, will the 300tdi really pull all that ?

for that money, you could buy and convert a Unimog or a one of these:

Reynolds Boughton R.H.D, RB 44 Truck Cab Hard Rear Body, #35208 - MOD Sales, Military Vehicles & Used Ex MOD Land Rovers for Sale (http://www.mod-sales.com/direct/vehicle/,26,52,/35208/Reynolds_Boughton_R.H.D.htm)

Landrovers are beautiful, charismatic, great fun for local off roading,

but can you trust their reliability for a long overland trip ?

And the 6x6 despite how well it may be engineered, there is so much to go wrong

Best would be an old Toyota Hilux with a roof tent

Not sure of the exact model. I'll find out when I get there. But it looked good in the photos.

The guy in the dealers asked if I'd like to visit and view it before buying it. But what's the point - I'd only walk round it and kick the tyres a couple of times.

XJ6 V6 Auto - One of these (http://www.used-cars-peterborough.co.uk/all-car-types/jaguar-xj6-3-0-se-auto-55k/), but mine was black and £8K instead of £50K

How in God's name can 60K on the clock make such a vast difference in price?! :eek
