Bevin Boys

There was a thing on the news today about the Bevin Boys, youths who were conscripted to work in the mines during WW2. It was considered, probably rightly, that producing enough coal and steel to support the war effort was as important as the actual fighting.

What would the UK do now if we had a WW3 and were blockaded? We don't have much coal or steel and manufacture sweet FA. That printed gun is an idea, maybe we could make some tanks and frigates from recycled rubbish? Any ideas? Your country needs you!

Plenty of coal in those nice flooded pits. Pity we didn't mothball them properly.
