So some stupid woman hit a cyclist and then boasted about it on Twitter, claiming they didn't have right of way because they dont pay road tax...

Unfortunately she failed to realise that Twitter is public and can be seen by the LAW.

It's quite a popular boast on the web in Holland, specifically with reference to people on racing bikes. The morons don't realise that web users can alert the police in seconds, and some do.

Yes, but that's not what it means.

I had to shout at a cyclist by southwark last week I was turning left with indicators on and the idiot was still going to try and undertake me. He was luck I had the roof down otherwise he would have dented my car and broken both his legs

Seriously. The cycling gang need to start having a clean up in their own house before moaning about what a cow this woman is. Its not on to think that just because you are on a bike you are free of every rule on the road.

            I don't run red lights
            I stop at crossing
I understand what a give way line is
I signal before I turn left or right.

Can't sat the same for most of the cyclists I meet...

Dunno what the law is in UK, but here in NL a cyclist can undertake a car turning off, as priority is always for the road user who is carrying straight on on the same road. As I say, dunno in the UK, but be warned if you drive over here someday as the cyclist has every right to do that.

Oh yeah, I signal and give way etc. when on the bike as I don't want to die.

So potentially you have to give way to someone behind you

Yep. Seems crazy, I know. You need to use the mirrors and look over the shoulder. In reality, people who are serious about cycling will be on their guard anyway, but kids on bikes, old folk on e-bikes and people who twat about with their smartphones on the bike can be very unpredictable and the legal burden is on the car driver to avoid hitting them as they are 'weaker road users'. I think it's a bit PC really.

FSCK! I didn't know that and I have driven in NL quite a lot in the past. However I was in a fooking big Merc with German plates so most of the other road users stayed out my way. There was only one incident of going round the roundabout the wrong way and an interesting time when I was in the far left lane driving out of Schipol thinking it was the slow lane with several miles of traffic behind me screaming for the krout to get out the way!!!

I have to say that I liked your cyclists far better than the twunts we have here in the UK.
