    Can you still drive the car if the power steering pump goes ?

    Evening all

    greetings from the mountains

    well im away with the mrs and family in the mountains for the weekend and i drove the car this morning and the power steering
    was making a funny humming sound like the pump wasnt happy anf the steering didnt seem as light as normal

    experts if the power steering pump goes can i still drive the car ?

    damn car its got 125,000kms and its starting to wear out looks its time to trade it in for a new one

    anyway i the mean time if the power steering pump goes on the way home can we still drive it ?

      Yes. Steering will be heavy - especially at low speeds - but you can still drive it.

      If the pump does go, remove the drive belt from it - as long as it's dedicated. If the belt shared with the alternator and/or water pump, obviously leave it in place.

      Oh, and be very careful whilst driving.
