Idiot hands his Lions place to a better player

Northampton captain Dylan Hartley handed an 11-week ban after being found guilty of verbal abuse - Telegraph

Rory Best will replace him. IMO, Best would have been going in the first place.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Bit harsh for having a go at the ref, happens all the time if football most they get is a yellow card.

That's why they're harsh on it in rugby.

Best isn't so good that he demanded to be picked. Keith Wood he isn't.

But discipline will decide this series, so it's better DH did this now and stayed behind than something equally idiotic in the 3rd and deciding test at Sydney. If selected.

Still seems over the top, you would have to bite someone to get that sort of ban on football.

No, it's to prevent rugby going the same way as football, and to protect referees and make sure people actually want to ref rugby matches; who would want to stand in the middle of 30 very large, aggressive men trying to keep order if there weren't very strict laws about how to deal with the ref?

He deserves it and hopefully he'll learn his lesson.

No, but he's a reliable and solid performer at the highest level.

True, but that says more about football than rugby.

In rugby the ref is sacrosanct, and they do as much as they can to help them, including embracing video technology.

Whereas football is run by idiots, played by w@nkers, and watched by the brainless - the ref is on his own against everybody.

                  And I'm a football man.

I tried to watch rugby and found it tediously boring. Given the success of football globally I think it obvious which sport is more exciting to watch. A bit of anger and passion is thrilling in sport, to clamp down on it so harshly is maybe why very few watch rugby.
