We can still sell weapons to the Middle East and the African nations. Not to mention our national treasure, the money laundering industry, which will probably receive a boost.
<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!

This ^ I have a mate that has just moved his business interests abroad to avoid several embargos set up by US interests so that they can keep the middle east sewn up for the likes of Halliburton and Boeing and the other post conflict pedlars.

He is a very small cog in the business but even he reckons that working out of the UAE will net him over 10 million a year selling education software to places that the US want clear of other businesses until it has the guts to send its own americans out there to clear the country out like a swarm of locus.

You can see that they are already starting the process now with Siria. Ooh look the UK now thinks its time to sell stuff to the rebels as they have started to discuss the idea of negotiations... coincidence? Get real...

Cameron himself probably encouraged the US to say that.

In reality, like anyone else, the UK would have no trouble if the price was right and we are selling something they want.

              US> UK Imports

              HTML Code:
              Month Exports Imports Balance
              January 2013 3,914.8 3,949.3 -34.5
              February 2013 4,274.8 3,910.8 364.0
              March 2013 4,212.6 4,513.9 -301.3
              TOTAL 2013 12,402.2 12,374.0 28.3
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Are you saying that trade with the EU will stop? And how will our trade with the EU increase if we stay in?

There seems to be this idiotic idea that a UK that isn't a member of the EU somehow can't trade with Europe.

It's not like we are using the Euro, which would make matters complicated.

There are lots of countries that are not EU member states that do lots of trade with Europe.

Where's the shaking head why are there so many cretins smiley?

Neither is likely, but Britain won't be able to veto stupid French socialist nonsense any more. As BB pointed out somewhere else, Switzerland has been unable to veto all sorts of EU tax avoidance legislation, and has been backed into a corner and risks losing big chunks of its financial industry. In the EU they could have prevented several tax treaties going through.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014
