Britain and US also kept sex slaves during World War Two, says Japanese mayor Toru Hashimoto | Mail Online

were Japan alone in this practice?

Yes I know our troops visited working girls. But they weren't 'forced' working girls(well at least not Government sponsored).
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Was this the same Japanese army that perpetrated the attrocities and war crimes reported worldwide?

      revolution: wwii japan

Wasn't that why the US dropped 2 hydrogen bombs. 1 would have worked well enough. 2 gave the impression that the enemy could be totally obliterated for their sins.

Then oddly the US covered up the extent of Japanese war crimes. Not sure why. If you visit Hawaii you will find many Japanese in the 51st state. They have been there for 150 years. Maybe pressure was put on the US government. Or maybe, they wanted Japanese backing during the cold war.

Maybe it was a case that since the Japanese empire was effectively dissolved at the end of WWII the Japanese didn't have to answer for crimes a ruling system no longer in place had perpetrated.

You have a good handle on the facts.

I don't think Japanese backing was worth much at the end of the war, and I don't think the US were terribly susceptible to pressure. I doubt the 'cover up' was intentional. Probably more of a preoccupation with other things.

The enlightened thing the US did was to rebuild Japan and Germany in their own image.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Completely valid point. Well known fact that armies around the world have had to employ concubines, prostitutes etc to keep soldiers moral in check. Soldiers are horny testosterone fueled aggressive killers so you need to keep them in check. EO himself spent weeks in the barrel to keep moral high. All armies implemented this except the French ( who all make Liberace look butch or the Greek who invented the solution )

That's what court martials and summary executions are for.

Concubines, prostitutes are for the high ranking officers.

You only have to read the first quote from him in that story to see that what he said isn't what the headline says he said.

FFS, people, if you're going to base a thread on a Fail story, at least base it on the story, not the headline. Hint: 99% of the time, the story doesn't say what's in the headline

(The story's usually total horsetulip in its own right, but that's another matter.)

Jesus Christ Nick! If you want us to make decisions based on the story as opposed to the headline the entire fabric of CUK could collapse.
