Barefoot in Basingstoke or Are Socks Necessary ?

I recall when visiting Ecuador that many people there do not wear and do not therefeore purchase socks.

And it does get cold there too.

My understanding is that Albert Einstein did not wear socks either.

What does the panel think, and what are the implications for the sock industry ?

I think my feet get far too sweaty without them. Very uncomfortable and unpleasant unless I'm wearing sandals.

That was my initial reaction too Dave , but then again we dont wear socks on our armpits, well at least I dont tend to.

A quick application of anti deodrant, or even the mroe radical solution of washing them now again might cater for the sweat scenario, whoops I almost said sweaty socks ...

As for the comfort factor,Im sure your feet would soon harden up, as for sandals , I thought all IT contractors wear Sandals and Kafthans as part of our professional dress code ?

      I know I do.

How would you account for the crusty socks if you dont wear them or you dont have sweaty feet?
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

By Jingo LG,methinks youve got me on that one.

This is where my theory unceremoniously falls to the ground.

Heisenberg wasn't sure whether he was wearing socks on any given day until he took his shoes off - so he was simultaineously socked and sockless!

At one and the same time socks can be in your shoes and on your feet.
              2 places at once, astonishing.

(Ivor Cutler, no, it's not the actual poem, perhaps Alf would care to post it)
              Why not?

                Well Ill be darned !

On the topic of socks, given that most of the population have been duped into wearing them , its odd that there is no significant brand leader in terms of socks, for example if you think of suits you might think Armani or Boss...but when I mention socks ...well ???

Not only that, but socks can move between universes. One sock will often dissapear into the void, leaving its partner behind. Also, single socks from other universes will suddenly turn up in your drawer.

Do they share this ability with Biros? I have often noticed all my Bics dissapear and then another day I will find a drawer full when I know I never put them there.
