No wonder they go over budget

Well I've been spending the last couple of weeks working on a system for a contract being provided by large consultancy to a government agency and I have never seen such wastage, amateurish, pah, words fail me, on a project. Each day the goalposts move, no-one has actually worked out a full project plan. None of the teams seemed to have actually sat down together and said what they wanted. Glad I go back to doing the normal stuff on friday, except they need me to come back due to all the screw-ups!
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

My advice... open a nice bottle of chilled Chablis, work out how much you are invoicing for... and then have a bit of Light Relief...

Nah, Friday I have a 1600km drive home, all expenses though as everything has been since last week including the weekend I spent in Sowerby Bridge.

As it is I don't have a rate for this customer (not the end customer,) I get paid a monthly retainer, all expenses (and I mean all) and then various sums for system builds, support contracts, etc. Its a pretty good earner along with doing normal sysprog/consultancy contracts at the same time

Little formal planning can work ok with small or one man projects given competent people. There must be a law somewhere, disaster proportional to number of people involved cubed to the power of 96.
