One year contract on PAYE?

I'm coming to the end of my first contract which was a 1 year deal on a day rate and under an umbrella company.

Recently I was offered a new 1 year contract but the spec sheet doesn't have a day rate, instead it says "XX,XXX on PAYE". Does this mean I'm effectively on the payroll, i.e. a permi for a year?

The pay is significantly less than on my last contract - when broken down into 260 days, it works out at about 100 quid less per day.

Is there some sort of benefit to this arrangement I am not seeing? Or is this just a bad deal?

As an EMPLOYEE you'll get holidays, sick pay etc.

Take the gig, get a sick note. Sorted.

As an EMPLOYEE you'll get holidays, sick pay etc.

Possibly, after a qualifying period (I'd guess about a year).Plus you'll get to do lots of unpaid overtime, won't have the hassle of claiming expenses AND you get to meet those lovely ladies in HR.
Oh - and fook all money.

I did 245 and then they extended my contract another three weeks to use up the remainder of the pot.

There's £100pd less in it for you and a £75pd saving for the client (+£25 for the pimp).
