    Scottish Bus drivers

A BUS driver has been suspended after being caught in a steamy clinch with a passenger on the top of his double decker.

The National Express driver stopped his vehicle on a secluded part of his route, turned off the lights and went upstairs for a romp.

It is understood bosses discovered the secret late-night tryst during a routine review of their fleet’s CCTV cameras.

A source at the Dundee depot said: “It’s a bit embarrassing for the driver. He was on a remote run late at night and obviously wanted a bit of hanky-panky.

“We’re not sure if they knew each other. There wasn’t anyone else on the bus and by all accounts it only lasted a couple of minutes. It was described as a ‘kiss and a cuddle’.

“Unfortunately, he forgot that all buses carry CCTV cameras which are regularly checked. There was no way he was going to get away with it.”

The driver was operating the No17 service from Dundee Technology Park to Whitfield via Ninewells Hospital. It is understood he parked on or near Tom McDonald Avenue, close to the hospital.

The road is “bus only” and has an automatic bollard which drop to allow double deckers to pass but blocks cars and public vehicles.

The area is home to two-storey blocks of business units, including a BT call centre, and is deserted late at night.

A National Express Dundee spokesman said last night: “We can confirm an incident took place on a 17 service involving a member of staff. The individual is suspended and the incident is currently the focus of an internal investigation.”

It isn’t the first scandal to hit National Express Dundee.

In August 2010, a driver was sacked after he hit himself on the head with a rock then claimed he was assaulted. Shaun Cashley, 27, was initially suspended after claiming that he was the victim of stone-throwing thugs who attacked the bus .
