Ironically, Armageddon is going to arrive as a result of too little, rather than too much, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Currently experts are trying to find ways to cut levels of the greenhouse gas to prevent global warming running out of control.

But as the Sun ages and grows hotter, greater evaporation and chemical reactions with rainwater will take away more and more carbon dioxide.

In less than a billion years, its levels will be too low for photosynthesising plants to survive, say scientists. When that happens, life as we know it on Earth will cease to exist.

Earth's orbit is currently skimming along the inner edge of the so-called Goldilocks zone, and with this zone's steady expansion Earth will be firmly inside within three or four hundred million years, at which time the oceans will start evaporating over several more hundred million years until they have all gone.

There is already a technology that stimulates the growth of phytoplankton that consumes nitrates, phosphates and CO2, oxidises water and stimulates the growth of fish. It can be applied in oceans as well as small ponds and lakes . There is a similar technology that stimulates the photosynthesis process reducing the need for fertilisers and pesticides. The child has been born that will live to over 400 years of age and there are products that break down molecular structures of superbugs such as ECOLI and MRSA irrespective of whether they morph into another form.
